Get Up'N Go's mission is the fostering (disguised as having fun) of fitness and a cheerful outlook on life through year-round exploration of suburban-Boston's back roads and greenspaces, by bicycle and on foot. Our catalog of ev ents includes Sole Search'N and Soft Sole'N walks, easy to take Soft Spoke'N bicycle tours, our flagship Out Spoke'N rides (designed for those not intimidated by occasional hills and willing to tackle some off-road riding on "civilized" surfaces), and finally Super Spoke'N, a road-bikes only version for those who like to stick to paved surfaces and go fast. We'll even teach you how to ride a bike (Start Spoke'N) if that's what it takes to get you going, or initiate you into racing when you outgrow our programs.
In keeping with the objective of surreptitiously inducing healthy lifestyle changes, Get Up'N Go's programs are typically structured as six-to-eight week blocks of rides or walks; our hope is this will cause participants to fall effortlessly into the habit of cycling and hiking regularly, awakening one day to find that, without really trying, they've realized the benefits of consistent exercise. To avoid repetition, starting locations for cycling events differ every week but are generally north of Route 2 ("north") or south of it ("south"), a scheme whose intent is to offer something for everyone while limiting drive time to less than a half hour. Wednesday is walking day; because one shoe must fit all, the same general principle of maximizing variety applies but may occasionally mean stretching the drive time limit for residents at the northern or southern fringes of our "territory". All walks and rides except Soft Sole'N and Spoke'N, which are a little shorter, are planned for two hours. That's it in a nutshell!

To see what we're up to at the moment and to find starting locations, times, links to directions, and news of weather-related cancellations for programs currently underway, click What's Happening and, once there, the tab for This Week, Next Week, or Beyond Next Week, as appropriate. The agenda is firmly settled (when we're in season) for This Week and Next, but please take Beyond Next Week with a grain of salt; that far out things are subject to change for a variety of reasons.
